dispatch from santa fe

After a not-too-long drive, we find ourselves in the old Southwest town of Santa Fe. We are in a very nice, boutique hotel for the night - it has a very cool design-conscious, rustic style and a beautiful living room-like lobby. Our room is very nice as well, with great Santa Fe decor, but not tacky Santa Fe decor. We had a fabulous dinner in the courtyard of La Casa Sena which is housed in a 150-year old building. We took a little stroll around the historic downtown past the St. Francis Cathedral Basilica which was built in 1714 (!!!!).  We settled into our room for the night and now it is time to get to bed because we have an 8+ hour drive tomorrow.

Gary and I love Santa Fe! Every time we visit, we make it a point to stop at the Secreto Bar for their signature drink -the Spicy Secreto (Las Vegas, NV 2010 "Shake It Up" 1st place winner)!

Secreto Bar was in the lobby of our hotel! Where do you guys usually stay?

We usually stay at the Hilton (cause we have points) a block or so from the plaza. We overheard a shop owner telling a tourist about the award winning drink so we had to check it out. I love the St. Francis hotel and have always wanted to stay there but it's hard to beat a free room at the hilton.

Totally ... a free hotel room is hard to beat! I would think priority #1 is also just being in the historic downtown area!
