boot picks for fall + winter

As the weather has been transitioning into cooler fall temps, I have been thinking about cold weather footwear. I am still in flip flops and sandals at this point, but I see a need for boots coming soon. Plus, let's face it, at the inception of fall each year, I get excited for fall and winter footwear {read: boots}. The past couple of years I have gone through a pair of Steve Madden Intyce boots (an affordable knock off of the Loeffer Randall Matilde boot). I still like this style, but my latest pair is worn out and I am ready to move on to something new. And after taking the leap and trying booties, I have found that I love the bootie/ankle bootie style; this surprised me because I was sure I would not like booties on me.

Anyways, for this fall and winter I am looking for a pair of boots and a pair of ankle booties. My boot search is taking me all over the mall and the usual haunts of online retailers. Here are some of my favorites I have found along the way.

Gray may be my go-to fall and winter wardrobe color, but for boots I am drawn to brown. I have been doing some boot shopping lately, and these are three of my brown boot favorites that would serve pretty much any purchase.

The Sorel Joan of Arctic Wedge boot is very functional, but I was impressed by its edgy military-inspired style. It is my boot pick and my pair is ordered and on its way. I also love the gray and black.

The Jeffrey Campbell France Wrap Strap boot is a cross between a western and a moto boot. A little less edgy than the Sorel, this boot can be casual or dressed up. Its block heel is also a practical choice. I also like this edgier Jeffrey Campell Forever Young boot, but it's black so I digress...

The Steve Madden Bailen bootie has a refined look, or at least more refined than my other two picks. If you work in a more formal office environment, then these would certainly work best over my other picks. I love these, but honestly, they may be a little too shiny and dressy for me.

The other pair I ended up actually purchasing are the BC Footwear Busy Body bootie. When I came across it I wasn't too impressed with the color of the leather. However, after seeing them on Instagram on Kendi of Kendi Everyday, I loved the way they looked.  So this is my official bootie pick.

So far I have only purchased brown boots, but in my search I have come across way too many great black boots. From Sorel, for a highly functional pair of boots with a some serious style, the Sorel Medina Tall boot is fabulous.

I have lusted after the Fiorentini + Baker Eternity boot for literally years, but have never taken the leap to purchase these "investment" boots {read: pricey}. But I had to include them on this list because I love their edgy moto styling.

I recently fell in love with ANINE BING's jeans (this charcoal pair is my favorite pair of jeans right now) ... I also follow her on Instagram where I drool after her laid-back, effortless, slightly edgy style. I have seen her wear the ANINE BING ankle boots many times, and I love the look. On their own, like above, I personally would have passed them over. However, seeing them on her, I love the look of them.

These Nine West Riguma boots are refined and classy. Like the Steve Madden Bailen boots in brown above, these would be a fantastic option for office wear. They could look great with jeans and dresses. I wish that they came in brown!

What will you cover your feet in this fall?
